Visiting Frankfurt or Frankfurt am Main, birthplace of the Romantic poet Goethe and an important financial center.
Although we went before all the Christmas markets were set up, they were already being installed, and the typical festive atmosphere was already in the air.
The city has a special charm. Its Old Town has that typical German town feel, with beautiful buildings and facades, and hidden corners and details for the more observant visitors.
Next to the Old Town, there is a striking contrast with the financial district and its skyscrapers. Its name comes from the combination of the Main River and the Manhattan district in New York.
In just one day we visited this beautiful town, its castle, the market square, and churches. It has a lively main street; even though it was crowded, we still enjoyed some shopping and good food.
